over the next several days i will be posting several blogs revolving around the my personal ethos and the standard by which i ask my teams at rock church to operate.

this ethos is born out of years of mistakes and triumphs and serves as the anthem that drives how i do what i do.ethos is defined as the distinguishing character of an individual, group, or institution. my ethos (and the ethos that i strive to instill at rock church) is: be better, do better, rise above.today we start with be better. this is not a statement that as individuals we are to compare ourselves to others and try to be better then them. rather our lives should reflect the sanctifying work of God, through the Holy Spirit, in Christ’s name. If we are to work or serve anywhere and not earnestly seek to become more Christ-like in our personal lives, then we fundamentally miss out on the opportunity set before us.however, this should not be because we work or serve, rather, we are called to a higher standard in all aspects of our life. In focusing on our own growth and transformation we can be the right kind of examples to others and be the catalyst for transformation and change.instead of hoping things may get better, i will be better.statement“i will strive, in all aspects of life, work, and ministry, to set a Christ-like example for those around me.”scripture
